Calculation and Analysis of Lighting Energy Load Factor and Infiltration Rate for “Seoul A Apartment” (760 Households)

◇ Research Background

In many buildings such as apartments and schools, internal systems—such as boilers, heating and cooling systems, and lighting—do not always operate efficiently. To address this issue, this study uses a program called “ECO2” to configure and simulate building operation, with the aim of understanding how the internal building systems operate.

  

◇ Research Method

To run the ECO2 program, a building named “Seoul A Apartment” with 760 households is arbitrarily selected as the target. After defining unit types such as 540-type and 740-type, the total lighting power consumption and the floor area of each zone are calculated in the lighting energy load section.

Second, in the heating supply system settings window, the heat supply system is specified. Finally, the boiler efficiency is calculated by setting the infiltration rate, boiler capacity, supply water temperature, and return water temperature. Based on these inputs, the program generates the results window.

Research Results

​By configuring parameters such as the boiler, zone (area), and infiltration rate, this study aims to present in detail—using graphs—the operation of the heating and cooling system and the energy demand of the “Seoul A Apartment” building with 760 households.

◇ Research Background

In this study, we aim to understand how cooling, heating, and energy efficiency are configured in aging buildings on campus, and to clarify the internal configuration process of the building by examining how these systems operate.

◇ Research Method

​First, in the air-conditioning system settings, we select constant air volume (CAV) and variable air volume (VAV) operation. Second, we arbitrarily set the indoor cooling and heating temperatures to examine how energy efficiency is represented.

Through this process, we seek to understand the types of heat generation equipment (boilers, district heating, heat pumps) and to study the principles of building energy efficiency by implementing them within the program.

◇ Research Results

By arbitrarily setting parameters such as material type, heating and cooling conditions, and boiler efficiency, we aim to visualize the internal processes of the building in the form of graphs.
